12 Days of Christmas: Glitter Tips [Day 4]
Glitter is glorious but sadly, glitter has gotten a terrible reputation. This isn’t something inherent, but rather brought about my the misuse and abuse of this lovely medium.

The holidays often see a spike in the appreciation of all things glittery and so I thought it would be helpful to share some tips to make your glitter experience a good one.
- A little goes a long way. Too much and you risk looking like a disco ball or like you were doused in faerie dust.
- When applying to the eyes or skin, find a good (but safe) adhesive. Loosely applied glitter will travel. Everywhere. Every. Where.
- Scotch tape is a great way to pick up wayward glitter. Wrap a length around a finger tip or brush handle and gentle roll over the skin.
- Use cosmetic grade glitter and check to see whether it’s safe for the eyes or lips. Skin safe dyes, smaller size and rounded edges are just a few reasons why it’s a better option.
- Take care when removing glitter around the eyes. Wipe up and out from the upper lash line and down and out from the lower lash line, so you’re not pushing the glitter into the eye.
