Brand Snob?

I think it’s pretty safe to say that people have their preferences for brands in various aspects of life. There isn’t anything wrong with preferences, but I find myself annoyed when people use a name as a lofty place to stand. Interestingly enough, in my experience it’s been that mid range area that seems to have the most, or perhaps just the loudest snobs.

Let me illustrate with an example , lip gloss:

  • E.L.F. Hypershine Gloss – $1
  • NYX Diamond Sparkle Lip Gloss – $6
  • L’Oreal Glam Shine Lip Gloss – $9
  • M.A.C. Lustreglass – $16.50
  • Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss – $20
  • Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Reflect – $24.50
  • Yves Saint Laurent Golden Gloss Shimmering Lip Gloss – $28
  • Le Metier de Beaute Clearly Brilliant Lip Gloss – $36
  • Sisley Paris Phyto-Lip Star Extreme Shine – $55

For a small tube of gooey shine, that`s a pretty wide range of prices. Options are a good thing, since people`s taste is also pretty expansive.  Not to mention the variations in skin type, skin colour, and undertones.. but I digress. The point I`m trying to make is that while we have our favourite brands, it`s no reason to act like your favourites are somehow superior.

It`s just makeup, so let’s all calm down and chill out.
