MAC & Nicki Minaj for Viva Glam.. again!

Another collaboration between MAC Viva Glam & Nicki Minaj..

Another collaboration between MAC Viva Glam & Nicki Minaj..

On January 31st the second installment of Viva Glam Nicki was launched.   I was reminded of the Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga launch where Gaga snagged a second run.   Of the Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin collaboration, I can’t say I’m surprised to see Nicki back for another year.   Once people realized how fun her original bright yellow based pink outshone the initial skepticism of such a bold colour in the Viva Glam range.

Interestingly enough, the pale lilac shade had a ton of criticism prior to launch which seems to be par for the course when MAC and Nicki Minaj work together.   Again, we see a departure from the more traditional Viva Glam shades that are meant to be universally flattering.   Due to the finish of the lipstick, I think most people will need to put in an extra bit of work with a liner to make Viva Glam Nicki 2 work.     The gloss should be easier though, especially for those that are already using lighter lip gloss.

All that said, it’s perfect timing as people start to transition from the deeper tones of winter into spring pastels.

Nicki Minaj continues her reign as the hip-hop queen of M ·A ·C VIVA GLAM! The Lipstick-loving diva is back to serve up a delectable duo of Lipstick and Lipglass in an all-new shade of pastel lavender pink. Every cent of the selling price goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Limited edition.

Like prior limited Viva Glam collections, the shades will be available regularly for about a year. Usually the initial rush may see the products sold out online or at your local MAC, but they will be restocked and available again.

I like the color but it will not work for me.  I am just too……white or fair or whatever the PC term is. However, if you think it could work for me, I will entertain suggestions/ideas.

    • It’s a difficult colour for just about everyone from light to dark and in between, the gloss could work for you I think.

I did like the other one, and purchased it, but this really just doesn’t do it for me.   I have Lavender Whip, and *never* wear it…it’s just too light on my skin tone.

Personally I don’t think this would look good on anybody, it’s too pasty and blue under toned.
