Haul ~ Smudgeliner & Tokyo Rush [Annabelle]

Catching up on some hauls from the past few months, I thought I’d feature a brand that definitely seems to be coming into its own. Everything from this haul is by Annabelle Cosmetics, a drugstore brand exclusive to Canada. For years I’ve been a fan of their pigment dusts and their kohl eye liners, but recently they’ve put out some really nice collections. Spring 2009 saw the release of Tokyo Rush and Smudgeliner collections and currently Hydropolis is out for Summer 2009.

Annabelle Haul: Pigment Dust

I’ve been using Pigment Dusts for years, and I still enjoy using them. They are versatile because they can be applied in a sheer wash, or used with a mixing medium to intensify the pigmentation. Mixing medium will also help minimize the fallout, since these are very finely milled. Personally I prefer to use some sort of an eyeshadow base, to keep the colours staying true all day. These particular colours are unfortunately limited edition, so if you do happen to see them and you want them, pick them up before they’re gone.

Wild Wasabi is a trio of eye shadows, they’re not individually named, but are best described (L to R) as a sandy beige, light turquoise and pale green. At first glance these look like they’re too glittery, but it’s just an over-spray. The actual shadow underneath does have some glitter, but it’s definitely manageable and very pretty for summer. Pigmentation wise, these shadows are ok.. they’re not terrible, but they’re not great either. The beige is the best of the bunch on my skin, but i could probably use the turquoise and green as a highlight for the inner corner, paired with other colours. I still think people would enjoy this if they preferred more subdued colours, or were of a lighter complexion than me.

The Smudgeliners definitely standout as my favourite of the whole haul. They’re very smooth in consistency and easy to apply. As the name implies, they can be smudged for a smokey look.. however, once they’ve dried down they don’t budge at all. I don’t know if they’re acutally waterproof, but from what I’ve seen so far, I think they’ll be a great liner for the summer.
