Review ~ Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash Mascara

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash

Product Name ~ Buxom® Lash Mascara (Blackest Black)

Product Description (from http://www.sephora.com ) ~ Holds the style of your lashes for a continuous 12 hours with no flakiness. The silky, vitamin-rich formula darkens, lengthens, and thickens from root to tip without ever clumping. Its patented, hourglass-shaped brush is designed to lift and separate every lash while delivering the perfect amount of antioxidant-rich mascara needed for bigger, fuller lashes

The Experience ~ I picked this up in a sampler box set, so it was really just a coincidence that I had it on hand when I started hearing the raves about this mascara. Mascara is just one of those things that I can’t help but want to try, which is why I got the sample set. It’s a great way to try out some new brands (or snag travel sizes of old favourites), without worrying about shelling out for those full sizes you’ll never get through because you don’t like, but I digress.

Bare Escentuals kept the packaging simple and that’s a good thing as far as I’m concerned. The wand is big, definitely not for the easily intimidated or those with very small eyes. I quite like the size though, and I was surprised to find that I could capture my inner lashes without too much difficulty. I was also surprised to find that the brush wasn’t as awkward as I first thought it would be for my lower lashes. It was my experience that for a large wand, it was unexpectedly agile.

The consistency is smooth and light, which makes for easy application. It was a pleasant surprise to find that this formula truly delivered on its promise to be clump free. The definition is fantastic and definitely belies the chunky wand. I have never experimented with really building up this mascara because I find that my needs are met with just a few passes of the wand. I did find however, that there was some smudging under the lower lashes after about five to six hours.

Clean definition is what I see the most with this mascara, but there is enough volume added to make a statement. My experience also showed some additional length as well, but for my own taste I prefer to curl my lashes before application. Since I have dark lashes, this works day or night for me. For those with lighter lashes, this may be too intense for daytime and unfortunately it is only available in one colour at this time.

In the past I have tended to jump back and forth between mascaras, but there is something about the formulation of Buxom Lash that I really like. I consistently reach for it and find myself disappointed if I’ve misplaced it and need to reach for something else. This is definitely one of my new favourite mascaras, of which I will be repurchasing in full size.

Price ~ $23 CAD

Pros ~ definition, length, mild scent, volume

Cons ~ limited colour options, price, slight smudging

Rating ~ 4.5/5
