Experience: First, I just wanted to explain that I picked up all of these colours via gift sets at Sephora. I think these sets are a fabulous deal and a great way to try a few of the products. The Cherry Lip Kisses set (three glosses) retails for $25.50 CAD, whereas a single gloss is $22.50.. amazing savings! The Love Your Lips set (two glosses, a lip scrub & lip butter) retails for $38 CAD, but if you were to by the products individually it would be $83! It’s very rare to see savings of that magnitude, so if you’re interested you can find them at Korres and Sephora.
Getting into the product itself, the first thing I noticed was the scent. It’s smells of delicious cherries, which I absolutely love and it comes across as authentic as opposed to that sugary artificial cherry smell. If you don’t like the scent of cherries, then this probably isn’t the gloss for you.
The formula is not at all sticky and I found it to be very moisturizing. However, the applicator is quite small and I found that I needed to dip twice to get enough product out. I did notice that the smaller size allows for more control, which allowed for a very clean application time and time again.
These lip glosses are marketed as semi-sheer and while this applies to many of the colours, there is some variation. Most of them are sheer with the ability to build the intensty. The exception was Natural Purple (#25), which I found to be much more pigmented. This particular colour is also a cream finish, rather than a shimmer finish. I cannot speak to whether that has something to do with the difference, but it’s definitely noticable.
As with most glosses, this does fade over time. However, it doesn’t just disappear like some other glosses. It was my experience that as the gloss faded, it left a pretty sheen to the lips with a touch of shimmer (depending on the finish). I also noticed that my lips felt great even as the colour faded, which made for easy re-application because my lips were not feeling or looking chapped.
Overall, I think this is a great lip gloss. It’s definitely something a bit softer and more subtle, but I would still recommend it. I appreciated knowing that these glosses were a bit sheer rather than having unrealistic expectations, but I was impressed by the fact that I could build up the colour if I wanted to. They do run a bit pricey, especially here in Canada so I would definitely recommend checking out the gift sets as a more economical option.
