Price: varies by location, check your local drugstore

Amount: 7.7mL

Packaging: A black & gold tube with a matte finish, simple but sturdy. The brush is large with traditional bristles.

Product: One of the first things I notice with a mascara is the scent. Lately I’ve noticed a lot of formulas have a very strong, unpleasant chemical scent. This is not the case with this mascara, it just smells like, well just like mascara. The application is easy as the brush offers good coverage and builds easily without clumping. While the brush is large, I’ve personally had no problems getting to the inner and outer lashes, I just take my time. The biggest reason why I love this mascara is because of the effect it gives. There is a reasonable amount of length, but the defintion and volume is the showstopper in my opinion. Add to this the intensity of Carbon Black and the fact that the lashes remain soft, it’s pretty marvelous. As with most things, there is a down side. Firstly, when I wear this mascara on my lower lashes it will transfer under my eyes. Secondly, for a drugstore mascara it’s quite pricey. For an extra few dollars you could hit up the department store counters.

Carbon Black: brush, packaging & lash swatch

Pros: defintion, length, mild scent, no clumping, no flaking, soft lashes, true black, volume

Cons: price, transfer

Rating: 8/10
