Review ~ Quo Double Decker Beauty Palette

Product Name ~ Double Decker Beauty Palette (Piccadilly Punk)

Product Description (from Quo packaging) ~ Quo Double Decker Beauty Palette holds everything you’ll ever need for your eyes, cheeks and lips! The top holds four silk smooth shadows, and hidden underground are two luscious lip colours and one perfect shade of blush! (from cinnamon kitten) ~ Piccadilly Punk, inspired by the colour grey. Cool metallic undertones and evasive, medium greys and petrol blues combined with intense rich purple. The lip and blush colours shift to pinks, crimson and rubies for a feminine touch.

The Experience ~ This palette is available in two colour stories: Piccadilly Punk (greys w/ purple) and Trafalgar Square Bare (earthy neutrals) and is exclusive to Shoppers Drug Mart. I heard about this product on one of the makeup communities I frequent, and after visiting a few stores I finally found them in stock. I swatched both palettes in the store, and my first inclination was towards Trafalgar Square Bare since I adore golds/olives/neutral s. However, since I have so many shadows like that, I went for Piccadilly Punk instead.

Starting from the top left and working clockwise:

QUO Piccadilly Punk

QUO Piccadilly Punk

Level One: Eyeshadows
dark grey with gold, almost rusty shimmer
metallic silver, with blue undertones
gunmetal grey, with silvery blue shimmer
vibrant warm purple, with red undertones

Level Two: Lip Gloss & Blush
pink’ish plum, with gold shimmer (gloss)
red’ish berry, with cool undertones (gloss)
cool pink, with slight silver sheen (blush)

The texture of the eye shadow is very soft, while retaining good pigmentation. I felt like the dark grey and the gunmetal gray were too soft, and required a much lighter hand to minimize the fallout. The silver and purple however, were amazing and very easy to work with and blend.

The glosses are sheer, but they do have enough pigmentation for there to be a visible change in lip colour. Both of the colours go on smoothly (with a lip brush), they last well (without eating) and to my delight, they are not sticky at all.

The blush is a very nice texture, it goes on more like a cream and isn’t at all chalky. I think this would be a lovely light flush for someone with a light skin tone, but for someone who is mid-range and darker it would probably serve better as a highlighting contour.

Overall, I’m very pleased with the palette. I feel that the quality is pretty good for a drug store brand, and the price is amazing, given what is included. It would have been nice to see some other colour options, but I think it’s a good start and I hope that Quo continues to expand this aspect of their line.

Price ~ $20 CAD

Pros ~ colour coordination, good wear time, packaing, price, product texture

Cons ~ only two palettes available, shimmery shadows give some fallout

Rating ~ 4.5/5
