Five Favourites: April 2010

To say that it’s been a while would be a gross understatement, so without further ado here are my favourites for the month of April.  Is it bizarre that I’ve had my lists, but just never got around to taking the photos?  Maybe I should switch format to video.. what do you think?

Five Favourites / April 2010

Annabelle Volume.com Mascara / Black
I remember picking this up in a two pack, and it went into the “mascara box” for a time. I pulled it out after finishing the current non-waterproof and was quite happy to find a great everyday mascara. It gives good colour and definition without being over the top.

The innovative brush-comb combination made of elastomer/polymer creates outstanding lash intensity. Notice the difference with a single brush stroke. How? Nylon lash-gripping spheres in the formula coat each and every lash.

Smooth and lightweight, its formula resists smudging and flaking all day. It dries quickly so you can apply two successive coats, even three if you dare. Ophthalmologist tested, the new volumelash.com mascara is ideal for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. (from annabellecosmetics.com) SRP $8.95 CAD

Bare Escentuals Brush / Double Ended Precision
This came in the Crown Jewels kit, and I have to admit I was skeptical. I haven’t had the best luck with Bare Escentuals in the past, but this is now a staple! The shader brush is right up there with the MAC 239, but it’s a slight bit smaller so I find it works really well with packing on colour in tighter areas. I don’t use the precision end as much, but it’s great for inner corner and lower lash line work, as well as deep crease definition.

Two ways to get a professional finish: Side 1 (pointed end) can be used wet or dry to detail, highlight, or apply shadow liner; and side 2 (shadow brush) can be used to sweep shadow onto the lower lid. Made of 100 percent natural goat and pony hair. (from sephora.com) $28 USD

LUSH Cleanser / Angels On Bare Skin
This is my second cleasner from LUSH and while everyone raves about this, I’m always wary of new skin care. I love that it’s a cleanser that can exfoliate too, but still gentle enough to use daily. I’m definitely now one who will rave about this too.

For heavenly soft and balanced skin, take a smidge of Angels on Bareskin, mix with a little water and massage in. The kaolin clay base deep cleanses while ground almonds gently exfoliate the dead skin away. Rose and lavender are added to soothe and help balance out combination skin. It’s our best selling preservative-free and packaging-free daily cleanser for all skin types, so if you don’t know which cleanser to choose and it’s heavenly skin you’re after, start with Angels. (from lushusa.com) $10.95 USD

MAC Lip Pencil / Mouth Off
For the most part I’m happy with my liner collection, but I never really had a good peach/coral liner. Usually I would use a neutral pencil for a peach or coral lip and now I have the perfect shade. It’s not too bright, but it holds enough colour to bump up any gloss. Sadly this is limited edition, which is making me think about a backup.

A pencil designed for shaping, lining or filling in the lip. Lip Pencils have a smooth, creamy texture that is perfect for lining the lips or filling them in. They are long-lasting and available in a wide selection of colours that each work well with many different lipstick shades. The colour of Lip Pencils is protected by Vitamin E, which acts as an anti-oxidant, and they contain emollients that moisturize the lips. Lip Pencils can be worn alone, with Lipstick, or Lipglass. MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural / Medium Deep
I’ve had this product for a long time, but it never really grabbed me as anything fabulous. A very light dusting does a decent job at setting liquid foundation, but I’ve been using it a lot more as a transition colour for my eyes. It works amazing to blend out colours or just as a natural highlight. Multi-purpose is always a good thing.

A luxurious domed face powder with minerals, slowly baked to provide a dimensional yet natural-matte finish. Provides perfect low coverage. Use to set and fix foundation or as a touch-up throughout the day. (from maccosmetics.ca) $31 CAD
