Five Favourites: April 2011

This month’s favourites reflect the fact that I’ve been shopping my stash. Two items are a bit newer, but were picked up a few weeks before I started Project 20 Pan. It’s amazing how you can really find some jewels when you look to what you already have, instead of the newest collections.

If you’d like a full or quick review of any of these product, just let me know in the comments.

Five Faves / April 2011

Annabelle Volume Lip (Lip Plumping) Gloss in Cherry Coke
Clearly I’m on a pink lip kick. Usually I’m all about bold, opaque colour but I love wearing this in a thin layer. It’s got enough pigment to actually register, but keeps it light and fresh. The formula is very glossy and very smooth, which add to the fresh vibe. >> Review

Annabelle Smoothie Eyeshadow Pencil in Melonade
I hesitated to pick this up because I figured my notoriously oily lids would eat through it in no time. Imagine my shock when I realized that it actually holds up very well on it’s own and gets extended wear over my usual base. As soon as I realized that, I started reaching for it frequently. I’ve worn it on it’s own and under shadow, it’s divine both ways. This shade is a gorgeous light pink-peach-champange, that blends well with my skin tone while still offering some interest with the shimmer finish.

MAC Lip Gelée in Goldensoft
I absolutely adore this formula of gloss, though sadly the lip gelées are in the midst of being discontinued (though they do occasionally pop up in limited edition versions). It’s still available on maccosmetics.ca – but it carries the evil triangle of death. I actually picked up mine heavily discounted at one of the warehouse sales. On a more positive note, I love the versatility of this gloss. It works very well on it’s own and it adds some fantastic dimension when layered. I imagine this will go into heavy rotation for the summer with it’s perfect golden sheen.

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Insanely It
It goes without saying that this colour really pops, but the finish makes it very easy to wear. The lipstick junkie in me is reminded of Immodest mattene mixed with Grenadine slimshine. The finish is gorgeous and the pigmentation is good, but it does need some touch ups due to the high gloss finish and super smooth texture. This colour is a very simple way to do a bold lip, which still remains wearable. Win-win.

Wet n Wild Coloricon Palette in Vanity
This is probably one of my most reached for palettes. It’s just so easy. The fact that the colours are half matte and half shimmer make it especially fantastic, because you can really mix up the textures and often times I find palettes to be lacking in the matte finishes. The matte shade in the second row is probably my favourite colour, which is funny because it’s so basic. I love that it retains it’s warmth, as many mid-tone browns tend to shift grey on my skin. The sheer amount of eye shadow I own makes buying another of the same palette a rarity, but I can definitely see it happening here. Yep, it’s that good. >> Review
