Five Favourites ~ August 2009

The title is pretty self explanatory for this post, I’m going to share five of my favourite products from this month.

Five Favourites / August 2009

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash in Blackest Black
I love trying new mascaras, but Buxom Lash is definitely unique in the fact that I know I’m going to continue to use it. I find the formula fantastic and the brush gives consistently good results, even in the sample size. Full size will be coming once I get through some of my mascara queue.

Bare Escentuals Buxom® Lash Mascara – Blackest Black holds the style of your lashes for a continuous 12 hours with no flakiness. The silky, vitamin-rich formula darkens, lengthens, and thickens from root to tip without ever clumping. Its patented, hourglass-shaped brush is designed to lift and separate every lash while delivering the perfect amount of antioxidant-rich mascara needed for bigger, fuller lashes. (from sephora.com) $18 USD

ELF Powder Brush
I’ve heard people rave about the Powder Brush from ELF, but I was sceptical. I picked it up when it during a 75% off event, and it’s worth well more than the $3 price tag. It’s up there with my MAC 109 brush for foundation application; powder or liquid.

This new anti bacterial, synthetic haired Taklon brush is softer and more absorbent and can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. studio brush! (from eyeslipsface.com) $3 USD

Korres Vitamin E Face Primer
Christine of Temptalia has talked extensively about Korres, and the silicone free primer in particular. I’ve never been an absolute primer user, but this formula is totally different from everything else I’ve used. It feels great on the skin and I can definitely see it becoming a staple in my routine.

Rich in skin-soothing botanicals and Vitamin E, this 99 percent natural formula refines skin texture without silicone, minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reduces pore size. Your skin will be primed and ready for a makeup application. (from sephora.com) $28 USD

MAC Eyeshadow in Saddle
Saddle is a relatively popular neutral colour from MAC. I’ve been wanting to expand my matte collection and this is already a favourite. It’s great to use for a matte crease or to blend out a smokey eye.

Highly-pigmented powder. Applies evenly, blends well. Matte golden orange brown. (from maccosmetics.ca) $17.50

MAC Eyeshadow Quad in Photo Realism
The Makeup Art Cosmetics collection was an explosion of colour and texture. This quad stood out to me because I don’t have anything like it. The greens are very well matched, and at first glance seem quite subdued, the deep blue green is beautifully intense. I’ll be reaching for this many more times in the upcoming months.

A limited edition palette of four eye shadows in various complementary finishes as seen by artist Richard Phillips. Reflects the artistic mood of the Make-Up Art Cosmetics colour collection. Features: Photo Realism, Fresh Approach, Image Maker, and Grey Range. (from maccosmetics.ca) $43
