Five Favourites: August 2010
This summer has been a bit crazy, so quite a few of my regular posts have fallen behind. Here’s my recap on my favourites from the awesome, but hectic month of August. If you’d like to see a full review of any of these products, just let me know in the comments.
MAC Eye Shadow in Time & Space It’s no secret that I love peach hued everything when it comes to makeup. I think it’s fair to say that if you had to guess, more often than not I’m wearing something peach on my face. Time & Space was a limited edition eye shadow from the Neo-Sci Fi collection released a few years ago – and at the time I slept on it. It’s a gorgeous peachy gold colour, warmer and less metallic than Woodwinked and deeper than All That Glitters.
Highly-pigmented powder. Applies evenly, blends well. (from maccosmetics.ca) $17.50 CAD
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Warmed I came across this gem at one of the warehouse sales, but it originally released with the N collection of 2008. It’s actually very much in the same colour family as Time & Space, and I use it as a highlighting bronzer. The golden veining makes for an excellent eye colour too.
A luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. Smoothes on: adds buffed-up highlights to cheeks for an overall ultra-deluxe polish to the face. (from maccosmetics.ca) $33.50 CAD
Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara in Very Black Perfect for length and definition, with just a touch of volume. The wand is a bit unusual, but I’m a fan of this mascara for those days (and nights) where I want the length without so much volume. Also pairs well with lashes.
The Grip & Extend brush grasps each lash and coats from every angle. Elastic formula stretches lashes for provocative length. Pro-Vitamin B-5 formula conditions and smoothes for black-patent shine. Contact lens safe and Ophthalmologist tested. (from maybelline.com)
Shu Uemura Lash Curler This was a review indulgence. I thought it was crazy for a lash curler to have such a steep price tag, until I used it. For me, it lived up to all the hype and it’s the only lash curler I’ve managed not to lose. It’s awesome.
Perfectly measured and finely balanced, the new shu uemura Eyelash Curler is designed to ensure superior functionality and performance. The upgraded silicone pad in a new “mushroom” shape provides a protective, stay-put edge for improved safety and optimum curl. The new, patented hinge is specifically engineered to apply the perfect amount of pressure on eyelashes. The calculated shape, size of frame length and ergonomic handles ensure stability and control, while the curved angle suits all eye shapes. (from sephora.com) $24 CAD
Stila Silk Shimmer Gloss in Kitten From the day I picked up this gloss, I was in love. It’s that perfect sheer gloss with a touch of shimmer. I didn’t use it heavily at first (because it’s so expensive!), but after picking up some backups (yay Winners!) – it’s been my go to gloss this summer.
Inspired by Kitten, the legendary pale pink shimmery shadow, it delivers a golden-pink shine. The silk proteins make for smooth, moisture-rich wear, while ultra-fine pearl glitter provides high shine and maximum comfort. Vitamins A, C, and E supply antioxidant protection for the healthiest lips. (from sephora.com) $29 CAD
