Five Favourites: December 2010
It’s a bit late, but I did have quite a few products that I was loving in December. I know it’s a bit MAC heavy, but that’s just what I happened to be reaching for.
If you’d like a full or quick review of any of these product, just let me know in the comments.
When it came to holiday makeup, this was a staple. This is my go-to gold eye shadow because it doesn’t have any sort of brassy tone, the finish is metallic without being overbearing and the formula is a dream to blend. It works on it’s own as a simple gold wash, or it pairs up nicely with many different colours and can be worn easily in subtle or bold looks.

MAC Lipglass in Lovechild
This actually came in a set that I picked up, and I didn’t realize that it was a permanent shade in the line. I’m beyond excited about that because this colour is definitely something that I’d re-purchase. It’s the perfect pinky plum colour with a subtle coppery gold shimmer, which adds fabulous dimension. Lately I’ve been more into cream finish glosses, but this is definitely an exception.

MAC Powder Blush in Gingerly
This blush is a colour that I’ve looked at for years, but it’s never jumped out at me. I’m definitely more a fan of bold blushes that I can alter based on how light or heavy a hand I use during application. Interestingly, this is a colour that swatches horribly on the hand, but on the cheeks it’s absolutely amazing. It’s a very subtle, very natural peachy bronze colour on me and is definitely a new staple.

Royal Soft Grip SG-160 1/8″
I was never a huge fan of using angle brushes for cream/gel liners on myself (though on others is fine – go figure), until I tried this brush. At first the ‘soft grip’ struck me as a gimmick, but it is a nice touch since I find it makes the brush particularly comfortable to use. The brush head is quite small, and I find that it offers similar precision to traditional liner brushes.

Stainless Steel Double Ended Spatula
This was something I picked up a few years back and it’s been getting some heavy use lately, as I’ve been custom mixing my foundations and concealers. It’s also great for lip butter/balm in a tub, which can start looking pretty janky after a while when just using fingers. I like that it’s narrow enough to dip into bottles to keep things clean, and the double ended aspect is convenient.

Would love to try the spatula and brush. Always looking for new tools. Thanks for the tip and review. Btw, do you think gingerly will work on my NW25 skin?
Great faves, I absolutely adore Woodwinked. GIngerly is not the right shade on me, makes me look slightly sunbrunt. I’m glad you’re loving it though
