Five Favourites / September 2009

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink
I’ve been a fan of gel eyeliners for quite some time, since I find them more exact than pencils but easier to control than liquid.  It’s a happy medium.  When my MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack finally dried up,  I decided to check out Bobbi Brown’s version.  I first heard about it from Sam & Nicola of Pixiwoo & Fashionfacetv fame and when I saw the counter at Holt Renfrew’s I had to try it.  It’s been fabulous, it’s very smooth and very black.

This award-winning liner offers the precision of a liquid liner and the ease of a gel-based formula.

ELF Eyebrow Kit in Dark
I picked this up as a filler item when I did my ELF haul.  I was looking for a few more different items to try out, and figured a brow set could be fun.  It’s a bit different than the gel I was used to, but I’ve gotten used to using the powder and wax.  It’s a gives a quite polished look, that can work for day or night.

Create brows that are fuller, thicker, and more defined! The pigmented wax defines and shapes brows and the color complementing setting powder keeps them looking arched and perfected. The doubled sided taklon brush has one side to help arch your brows while the other side aids in filling them in. This duo provides lasting color definition for a naturally beautiful look.

Pur Minerals Universal Marble Mineral Powder in Pink
This was purchased due to Lauren (aka Queen of Blending) and her positive recommendation. I saw it used in a number of her videos, and so thought I’d give it a try. It’s enough to give a subtle glow to the cheeks, or as a highlighter. I love using it in natural looks.

Universal Marble Mineral Powder in Pink is a mineral blush pressed powder that gives skin a rosy glow. This mineral powder illuminates and brightens the skin and evens out skin tone while reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This mineral powder is fantastic for eye brightening, blushing and lip enhancing. A wealth of vitamins and minerals combine with shea butter and vitamin E for light and lovely coverage while conditioning your skin.

MAC Gel Blush in Just A Pinch
Just A Pinch has to be one of my favourite blushes of all time. When I first saw it, the colour in the pot was extremely intimidating. The fact that it’s similar to a stain made it even more intimidating. Thankfully, the makeup artist I was speaking to was wearing it and it looked great. Best blush purchase I’ve ever made, and I have a backup patiently waiting in my drawer.

Sheer gel cheek blush in a pot delivers a rosy glow of coverage for a healthy complexion. Dewy texture blends into a thin film on skin, giving low to medium transparent coverage.

MAC 209 Eyeliner Brush
In the past I’ve been more comfortable using a bent eyeliner brush, since I felt like it offered more control. It took a bit of practice to get the hang of a regular eyeliner brush, but I’ve almost got the technique down and I really like the results it gives.

An extra-fine tipped synthetic fibre brush that delivers a precise, firm, even stroke with which to line the eyes. Use with liquid or cream products.
