Follow Friday: Brown Skin
As an extension to the Twitter meme; Follow Fridays, I decided to do an extended version on my blog. These are people of note in my sphere of all things beauty and I highly recommend you check them out.
This week is featuring some of my favourite brown skinned beautistas. Getting to know your skin’s shade and undertones is paramount when it comes to makeup, which is why I think it’s fantastic to find people who you can relate to visually. Those recommendations for foundation shades, eye shadows and glosses will be closer to the mark, when people have had similar experiences.
Resha has a wicked sense of humour which she infuses into all of her posts; from reviews to tutorials. Bluntly honest with great style, this woman is a true favourite.

One of my top beauty gurus for video tutorials, for simple and concise how-to advice. Cindy has tried everything from bold to subtle, and everything in between.

Initially, I didn’t know what to make of her speed tutorials. The quickness threw me off, but the actual looks kept me coming back. My favourites have always been her edgy creations, she manages to experiment while keeping things organic.

One of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet online. She uses everything from high end to drug store and can rock looks from subtle to over the top with ease. Her application skills are flawless. Her explanations and tutorials are easy to follow and a joy to watch.

Erin was one of the first brown beauty channels I found on YouTube. She’s been a trailblazer for women of colour all over the world; shattering stereotypes and opening minds. This woman is a true inspiration.

This woman beats face like no other. Her quirky ways are absolutely awesome and her love for the dramatic make for fabulous looks – even when she doesn’t like them.

Another of my long time inspirations. Her videos had me lamenting the fact that Canada was limited in the L’Oreal HIP eye shadow duos available. She also took my natural hair care to a completely different level, with her many patient explanations and demonstrations.

Her ‘Wear to Work’ series is amazing. She has a good mix of day, night and spectacular looks – an especially good find for those with a more hooded eye.

I love this blog, hands down. There is always new content, I can’t get enough of Yinka’s sarcasm and I love how she keeps her reviews honest. If she doesn’t like something, she won’t leave a doubt in your mind.

I think that this is a great idea, expand the follow friday concept and explain WHY you chose who you chose. Good choices by the way, they are great
